Safeguarding & Child Protection Information

We have the children’s welfare at the heart of all our actions and should a member of staff have cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill-treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, staff will inform the Designated Person within the school and established Child Protection Procedures will be followed.

The Local Management Board (Governing Body) have established stringent and far reaching safeguarding procedures when recruiting and appointing staff. All new members of staff and regular volunteers are subject to enhanced Criminal Record Bureau checks.

All staff have received, read and agreed to comply with the procedures set out in St Thomas More’s Safeguarding and Child Protection policy.  They have also all read and understand the DfE’s statutory safeguarding guidance on Keeping children Safe in Education.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Smith (Head of School) and Mrs King (Executive Head Teacher) along with 2 Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads who are Mrs Johnson (Care Team) and Mrs McGrath (Assistant Head Teacher).

Please refer to our policies section for all Safeguarding and Child Protection related policies.

Year 4 Weekly Round-Up! 🌟

What a fantastic week we have had in Year 4! 📚✨ In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers up to 10,000, while in English we have been learning all about different types of nouns and verbs. In RE, we explored the story of Abram and his covenant with God, thinking about what promises and trust mean. ✝️ We have also begun our exciting new History topic on the Anglo-Saxons, and in Geography we have started learning all about rivers and how they are formed. 🌊

Today was a particularly special day as we had the wonderful opportunity to join a live stream with Julia Donaldson! 📖✨ The children loved listening to her talk about her brand-new book, Gruffalo Granny, and even had the chance to learn how to draw the Gruffalo themselves! 🐾🎨 It was a fantastic experience and a brilliant way to finish our week!

📸 A little reminder: Please remember to complete your child’s consent on Arbor so that we are able to share photographs of them on Facebook and Dojo. Thank you for your support! 💛
