English | This half term we are focusing on the work of William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. We will be writing a variety of genres including letters to inform, dairy entries and poetry using figurative language.
During Spring 2, we are having a Geographical focus looking at Rivers. The book we will be using is Journey to the River Sea. We will be writing a variety of both fiction and non-fiction genres. Examples of writing we will be producing are persuasive letters, dairy entries, newspaper reports, non-chronological reports and a biography. |
Maths | Our units in Power Maths this term include multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages. |
Science | We cover one topic in science throughout the Spring term, this is life cycles. We will be focusing on the animals and insects that take habitat by a river. |
Geography |
IIn our geography this term, we will be exploring rivers. We will be discussing how useful rivers are and the different uses of Rivers. |
PE |
Indoor PE- We have Yoga bugs this half term. Outdoor PE- Hockey where we will be learning how to work together as a team with the different strategies and tactics needed to be successful within a game situation. |
Music | In Music, we will be listening to a wide variety of music. We will begin to describe this music using technical vocabulary such as, pitch, tempo, tone and volume. |
PSHCE | We are learning all about how to be a good citizen. We will be covering aspects such as anti-social behaviour, rules of our school, rules of the community and the rule of law. |

Reading
Parents are expected to read with their child 3 times a week at home. Reading record books must be signed and returned daily for confirmation.
Homework:
- Pupils will be given spellings on a Friday to learn for the test the following Friday (Look, Cover, Spell, Check).

PE:
Kit: Indoor: White T shirt, black shorts, black plimsolls
Outdoor: Black/Dark tracksuit, trainers (no jewellery).
Indoor PE sessions will take place on a Monday and outdoor PE sessions on a Tuesday.
PE kits must be kept in school during term time.
School will provide a spare PE kit for pupils who attend school without one.
